Holy Spirit forming a brooch and pendant in gold and Alençon stones, “Rooster’s head” hallmark.
The motif of the Norman Holy Spirit is a dove flying downward carrying in its beak an olive branch or, more rarely, a bunch of grapes. The Norman Holy Spirits are generally made of silver, set with rhinestones; it is rarer to find them in gold. The Saint-Esprit quickly evolved towards large, very elaborate pendants, and we notice that despite their evolution towards more and more beautiful and flowery pendants, the Saint-Esprit have always kept the motif of the knot at the top. Small rhinestones are almost always set upside down, with the points facing the front.
