Large statue in lacquered wood “Child Jesus blessing” inspired by representations of the Christ child in the Italian Renaissance. It evokes the works of artists such as Donatello, Antonio Rossellino or the della Robbia workshops, famous for their figures of the Jesus Child imbued with gentleness, harmony and serenity. This statue reflects the classical elegance of the Renaissance while adapting to the liturgical and devotional style of the 19th century.
The Child Jesus is represented standing on a square terrace, with a blessing gesture of the right hand, the two fingers raised. The treatment of the flesh, carried out “au naturel”, gives a delicate realism, while the fluid folds of the dress recall Renaissance influences. His face, imbued with serenity and spirituality, is finely sculpted, and his curly hair adds a touch of liveliness and youth.
